Safe & Tasty is a food plot/cover plot for birds and deer – always producing something to eat. It’s inexpensive but excels in keeping deer on the property. Buckwheat, pictured above, is one component of this mix.

Ingredients:
Grain Sorghum, Forage Soybean, Buckwheat, Sudangrass or Sorghum Sudangrass, Vail Winter Peas, Peredovic Sunflower
Notes on varieties:
– Grain Sorghum – will get about 4 feet tall and has a very strong stalk
– Forage Soybean – ranges from 17-25% crude protein; works well in mix with sorghum sudangrass; can grow 4-6′ tall; non-GMO
– Buckwheat – fast-growing broadleaf with fibrous roots; excellent companion in a mix; great for improving soil tilth
– Sorghum Sudangrass – can get 6-8 feet tall and has a sturdy stalk to stand up strong
– Vail Winter Peas – uniquely adapted for use in wildlife plots – a white flowered pea that is free from anthacyanin (unlike the purple flowered Austrian Winter Pea); more digestible and sweet tasting to wildlife; equal or better winter survival than other winter peas
– Peredovic Sunflower – deep-rooted broadleaf with rapid summer growth; significant rooting and biomass potential; performs well in mixes
