Perennial Dry Soil Mix

Dry Ground Greens is a perennial forage mix designed to produce tons of high-quality forage on low-quality, dry, and low pH soils.

Dry Ground Greens is a mix for sandy and dry soil. It includes lots of chicory, which will drop a 7-8 foot taproot. The small burnett works well in low pH soils.

Notes on varieties:

Bearcat Red Clover – an Indiana-bred medium red clover; known for outstanding yield and persistence; aggressive regrowth; excellent disease resistance package; a hardy variety that will give you consistent, long-term productivity in adverse environments

Endure Forage Chicory – the newest chicory variety available from the Mountain View Seeds program; bred to withstand wetter soils; high yielding; drought tolerant with excellent summer production; provides a high protein diet for wildlife

Frosty Berseem Clover – draws deer to your plot as well as, if not better, than any clover on the market; excellent palatability; high protein food source with impressive feed value

Advantage Ladino Clover – remains in vegetative state during whitetail deer antler growth; high crude protein content with large, succulent leaves; early vigor and hardiness; bred under grazing pressure

Stamina White Clover – long-lasting, high-yielding clover; new intermediate-type selected for higher forage yield and persistence under extreme grazing pressure; high stolon density and rooting, resulting in great persistence

Small Burnett – works well in low pH soils; desirable forage for deer; provides cover for some small bird species

Like many deer plot mixes, the exclusion cages really tell the story. This mix provides tons of highly palatable forage, as shown by the massive amount of forage inside the cage and the well-eaten forage on the outside.
