Annual Grazing / Cover Mix

No Till is an annual food and cover crop mix for those places where equipment cannot go.


No Till can be planted with hand tools and minimum tillage. It’s great for back in the woods; it’s easy to grow, has fast emergence, and can reseed itself.

April/May or July – September

Seeding Rate:

10 pounds covers 1/2 acre

Ingredients:

Winterhawk Annual Ryegrass, Winter Rye, Triticale, Groundhog Radish, Rapeseed, Fixation Balansa Clover, Improved Crimson Clover


Notes on varieties:

Winterhawk Annual Ryegrass – selected during several cold winters in Nebraska; the premier winter hardy annual ryegrass; exhibits excellent cold and frost tolerance, which allows Winterhawk to thrive in colder regions.

Winter Rye – an upright, cool-season, and high-yielding fall-seeded forage; germinates in cool temperatures; extremely winterhardy; tolerant of poor soil conditions

Triticale – a crop species resulting from a plant breeder’s cross between wheat and rye; excellent palatability, digestibility, and tonnage

Groundhog Radishfast growing with competitive, leafy top growth

Rapeseed – a cool-season annual forage with quick germination and an excellent root system; adapts well to a wide range of soils

Fixation Balansa Clover – a fall-seeded nitrogen-fixing annual legume, capable of producing 200 lbs./acre of N or more, depending on the amount of biomass present at termination; exhibits big-time fall root growth with explosive above-ground spring growth potential, depending on spring temps and length of growing time

Improved Crimson Clovera semi-upright legume; performs well in mixes, especially with annual ryegrass and radishes; overwintering likelihood increases with snow cover in northern climates; known for quick establishment
